The Lower Omo Valley is located in the South-Western Ethioppia, The Lower Omo Valleey is one of the unique plasces in the world with various cultures and ethnic groups inhabit such a relatively small piece of land. There are a plenty of pale anthopological sites in South Ethiopia in Lower OmoValley river basin and the sites are registred by UNISCO as the world heritate sights and the discovery of many fossils has a foundamental importance in the study of human evoloution. The Lower Omo Valley includes the konso and Fejeji paleontological research locations with sedimentary deposits going back to the plio-pleistocene perios and these have oduced numereous homind and animal fossils including fragments f Australopithecus. The discoveries of ancient stone tools in an encampment alsao offers evidence of the oldest known technical activities of prehistoric geological, archeological and Paleo-anthropological studies. The Omo river of Southern Ethiopia is is entirely contained within the boundaries of Ethiopia and empties into lake Turkana on the border with Kenya  and its principal stream of an endorheic drainage  basin includes Western and Southern region. The Omo also flows past the Mago and Omo National park which are known for their wildlife.

The Omo valley is cohabited by a colorful mix of tribes practicing a mixture of pastoralist, and subsitewnc3e agriculture along the Omo River basin. The people in the Lower Omo Valley are known by their high ethnic diversity with more than 16 ethnic groups . A journey into one Africas little explored frontier a fascinating area with in diverse ethno-culture and exciting home to some of the final truly unchanged tribes for many centuries.  Each ethnic group has its own language, distinctive geographical location, traditions reflected by their dressing, hair style, way of life, wedding ceremony, burial, religious and other cultural ceremonies. The Lower Omo Valley is often described a cultural melting pot with its wonderful diversity of different tribes and the area is a home of a fascinating mix of tribes namely Hammer Tribes(famous for their Bull-Jumping rituals and Evangadi dance performed by Hammer ladies), Mursi Tribes( Piercing their lower lip to insert round clay) Benna Tribes( scraficatios of mans chest), Ari Tribes (handcraft, blacksmith, pottery and agricultural agrivities) Desanech Tribes( tradition of circumcision) Karo Tribes (body painting), Erbore Tribe(colorful dressing and jewleries), Tsemai Tribes, Dorze Tribes (Skilull cotton weavers,local bread processing made up ffalse banana tree and  Elephant faced huts, and Nyangatom tribes (wearing colorful heavy beads on their neck) and Konso Tribes ( famous for practicing terracing system, Olayita generation pole,and a religious sculpture known as Wakka) are among the most visited tribes in the South Omo valley.
